Renewal & Resilience: Building Back Better with Compassion & Commitment

Communities struck by disasters like flooding and drought face immense challenges.

Homes are destroyed, livelihoods lost, and basic necessities scarce. Families endure displacement, hunger, and emotional trauma. Yet, amid the devastation, compassion and commitment shine.

Omega offers aid, shelter, and support, igniting hope and resilience, ultimately rebuilding the fabric of shattered communities.

An Urgent Need

In the wake of disasters like flooding and drought, communities endure profound hardship. Homes are lost, livelihoods shattered, and hunger grips families. Yet, amidst the devastation, compassion and commitment prevail. Oxfam states, "Six million people from farming families in Zambia are facing acute food shortages and malnutrition until the next growing season, twelve months away, due to severe drought, exacerbated by climate change and El Nino." This shortage significantly affects the 300 communities served by Omega Global Development.

Communities urgently need to partner with other communities to establish greenhouses, build dams, and provide choices. The need is critical, especially for the 1.5 million smallholder farmers, mostly women, who produce 90 percent of the food. Through initiatives like those by Omega Global Development, partnering with communities to establish greenhouses and provide alternatives, hope blossoms amidst despair, ensuring resilience in the face of adversity.

A Hope for Renewal

In confronting the urgent drought emergency gripping Zambia, Omega extends a compassionate hand to those in need. Through your invaluable support, we aim to implement a comprehensive strategy to combat this crisis. By harnessing the power of greenhouses, drought-tolerant seeds, crop diversification, and the building of dams, we provide sustainable solutions to ensure food security and resilience for vulnerable communities.

We reached our community through our Harvest Initiative in March 2023 and provided immediate resources. We now find ourselves addressing the urgent needs in Zambia and foresee the impact going far beyond the needs we are facing today. Your generosity enables us to establish resilient agricultural systems that shield against the harsh effects of climate change and drought. Together, we can cultivate hope amidst despair, empowering Zambian communities to overcome adversity and build brighter futures.

“There is no situation that is not transformable. There is no person who is hopeless. There is no set of circumstances that cannot be turned about by human beings and their natural capacity for love, compassion, and commitment."
